India Earthquake The year 2001 started off pretty bad. A devastating quake hit the state of Gujarat in northern India. I toured the area together with John Burns, a journalist with the New York Times. John is the best traveling companion one can imagine. Never in a hurry and his bag filled with wonderful tales (and a satellite phone). Thanks John! Also many thanks to Medecins Sans Frontieres for all the help and hospitality. Emmy Awards The Asian Semi Final Judging for the International Emmy Awards took place in Osaka in July 2001. The event was hosted wonderfully by Ueda-san, Kazuko and Yurika of Mainichi Broadcasting System. George Leclere of The International Council had a fantastic team in them. I met some great people during the judging (you know who you are!) and even got the limelight at Universal Studios Japan... Hyogo Prefecture Another busy year meeting with several committees of Hyogo Prefecture. It is a great honor to be able to add my little something to the deliberations of the Tourism Development Division and the Meeting for the Promotion of an Integrated Society (Hyogoken Gaikokujin Kenmin Kyosei Kaigi). Thanks Fujii-san and Sugiyama-san! My Website Finally! After almost a year of putting it together, iKjeld.com went live on January 22 2001. If I had known beforehand how much work would go into this little project of mine, I probably would have never started... But pretty proud of it now, though. The site went through quite a few changes during the year as I learnt more and more about web design. Many more improvements to come this year. Don't miss them!
